YOUR ADVENTURE

BEGINS HERE

The Chalet is situated far enough away from the hustle & bustle of the city to enjoy all the relaxation & beauty the natural environment has to offer, while being close enough to food & markets to make your stay as convenient as possible. With that in mind, we do recommend you stock up on supplies prior to visiting, as options are limited in the immediately surrounding area.

Carefree Cove Resort: 4.6 miles

This convenience store is locate about 7 minutes from The Chalet. It offers an assortment of groceries, beer, wine, etc. They also have a limited supply of hardware. If you’re looking for Pizza, this is your best bet, as it’s actually quite good, and made fresh to order.

The Hideaway Bar: 5.5 miles

The Hideaway Bar is a short drive from The Chalet, but takes a bit more “getting to” than Dingman’s (see below). It can be hit/miss during the warmer months, but it’s “the place to be” for snowmobilers in the winter.

Shirley’s in the Woods Cafe: 7.3 miles

Shirley’s serves homemade breads and gravies, roasts their own meats, and bakes their own pies. Their chicken is freshly prepared and they use real mashed potatoes. Shirley believes her guests deserve to be treated with respect and always get a good meal at a fair price.

Dingman’s Tavern: 7.3 miles

Dingman’s is our favorite spot to hang out with old and new friends alike. The owners, Bob and Carrin, are amazing, and are a great source of information if you have questions about the local area. The food is actually very good, and not at all what you’d expect from a Tavern/Bar. We highly recommend the Steak Bites (made of Prime Rib/Fillet!), and Feta Dip. On Tuesday’s burgers are only $2. Wednesdays they have (massive and amazing) 75c wings, and on Saturdays they offer “Reverse Happy Hour” with Medium 2-Topping Pizzas (half price) and $3.00 domestics.

We regret to inform you that Dingman’s Tavern, a local landmark since 1952, burned to the ground in January of 2019. The owners have plans to rebuild, and we will update this page once that happens.

The Blue Buck on 72: 7.3 miles

The Blue Buck on 72 is a general market & BBQ spot located just a few minutes away. There is a wide variety of local craft beers, and basic supplies. The ribs and the brisket sandwich are always hits with BBQ lovers!

Cherry Street Market: 14.3 miles

If your looking for fresh fruit and veggies, homemade pies, breads & baked goods, locally made candies, farm fresh milk or unique gifts, this is your place. The Cherry Street Market has friendly staff & a great atmosphere for the whole family.

Paddle Hard Brewing: 20.1 miles

Paddle Hard has delicious food paired with an impressive beer selection. In addition to the great food & beer, you’ll also have access to a wine tasting room and a locally-focused art gallery, which makes a statement about the brewery’s presence within the larger community.

Spike’s Keg O Nails: 20.3 miles

Spikes is known as “The Friendliest Place in Town”. The restaurant and tavern has served families and vacationers since 1933. One guest commented, “Their burgers are like no other!!! I’d drive 3 Hours just to eat here.” Spike’s never disappoints.

Ray’s – BBQ, Brews & Blues: 20.3 miles

Ray’s is a local hotspot for excellent BBQ, a wide selection of craft beers, and live music. It has a wonderful atmosphere and a beautiful view from the riverside patio. If you want great BBQ ribs that fall off the bones, this is the place to go!
