YOUR ADVENTURE

BEGINS HERE

There are Plenty of Places to Visit in Northern Michigan, which are just a short drive from Birchwood Cove Chalet. We’re conveniently located midway between Kalkaska and Grayling, which means all of the “up north” destinations are easily within reach.

Grayling: 20.1 miles

While staying at The Chalet, make sure you pop over to Grayling for an afternoon. You’ll find lots of local shops, cafes and restaurants, which are sure to please. The downtown area looks like it stepped right out of Pinterest with its updated rustic modern feel. Whether you’re looking for a fishing guide, a night out at one of the several bars, or a night dining on the banks of the river while listening to live music, Grayling has it all.

Traverse City: 35.1 miles

Traverse City is by far the most popular tourist destination in Michigan. Shopping, Nightlife, Sight Seeing… The list goes on and on. What’s great about staying at the Chalet is that you’re close enough to pop over to Traverse City for the afternoon or evening, but far enough away to avoid the inflated cost of lodging in the city.

Places to Visit in Northern Michigan

Charlevoix: 45.3 miles

If you haven’t been to Charlevoix, you’re missing out on one of Michigan’s finest treasures. If you’ve been there before, you know what we’re talking about. Whether its taking in the vast beauty one of the many unspoiled beaches, or chartering a sail boat, or simply admiring the historic architecture from the famous Earl Young, Charlevoix has long been a favorite “Up North” destination.

Petosky: 49.5 miles

Shopping, Brewery’s and Skiing are just a few of the many activities available in this “Up North” Michigan treasure. In the winter, enjoy skiing or snowboarding on the award winning slopes. During the summer visit one of the many Farmer’s Markets. If you’re up during the fall, you absolutely have to cruise the M-119, which is a 20-mile two-lane road that travels between Harbor Springs and Cross Village. It’s known as one of the most spectacular drives in Michigan, so you won’t want to miss it. No matter the season, there’s always something fun to do in Petosky.
